He’s become very successful with gathering a cult following for his stand up comedy as well as his show, Chappelle Show. Chappelle’s iconic jokes and humor have brought him to Grammy performances and headlining news.

Comedy and TV
Being an American stand-up comedian, Chappelle is used to having eyes on him on both the stage and the big screen. Along with that, the comedian earns loads of money as he works in stand up and on television. His popular show, Chappelle Show, airs on Comedy Central and generally collects high ratings.
Chappelle also demonstrates his talents in movies and film. Some of the films he’s featured in include Half Baked (1998) and The Nutty Professor (1996). These two movies helped to jumpstart his career, and since then he’s had plenty of success in comedy.
Altogether, his style of comedy focuses generally on race, news, politics, and current events. In effect of this, he is able to spark laughter in an audience easily.
Something that brought Chappelle a lot of attention was during Kendrick Lamar’s 2018 Grammy’s performance. In the middle of the performance, Chappelle appears on stage and speaks the phrase, “I just wanted to remind the audience that the only thing more frightening than watching a black man be honest in America is being an honest black man in America”. He then proceeded to excite the crowd for Lamar.
His Following (as of July 2018)

In an episode of his Netflix series, Chappelle fell under fire for making fun of Louis C.K. due to numerous sexual harassment allegations called out against the fellow comedian. His jokes poked light at the incredibly serious issue, and the comedian received plenty of negative attention for the routine. However, he sticks to his craft and chooses to defend his jokes and humor towards the situation. For more information, click on this YouTube video.
He also started a lot of drama with Kevin Hart, one of his big competitors. This brought him a lot of backlashes and started a mini-rivalry against them. Since Kevin Hart was compared to Drake, Dave Chappelle went further to make a joke about it, which caused a lot of controversies. Kevin handled this situation well but they haven’t been too close ever since.
Prior to his life as a comedian on the stage, Chappelle lived in a rather wealthy home in Maryland. With parents with connections to politicians and leaders, Chappelle received a lot of attention as a child. Hilariously enough, he was told that he would grow up to be a very successful comedian, and here we are.
Chappelle studied theatre arts in college and attended Duke Ellington School of the Arts. That way, he learned plenty of information and gained handfuls of experience performing in front of people. This also explains his ability to humor a crowd, and skill to turn a sometimes difficult situation into something lighter and easier.
With one joke after another, Dave Chappelle manages to bring light to a serious topic. His inspiration strived from Eddie Murphy and Richard Pryor, as well as his unique humor style truly bring him to the top of comedy. As one of the highest paid comedians in the industry, Chappelle holds a lot to his name and never fails to prove it.
